In this article I'm going to provide some answers to fairly simple fishing problems that will help you on your fishing journey. In this article, fishing tips for the beginner, you will learn tips that will not only help you catch more fish, but these fishing tips will also help you save time and experience less frustration.

Many articles take for granted the fact that the beginning angler isn't aware of the basics that can help them be more successful. As a matter of fact, no matter what your experience level, these fishing tips will probably be of benefit to any angler. Many anglers overlook or aren't aware of these basics, and this fact costs them dearly.

As an angler it's important to always do your best to learn new tips and techniques so that you can become more efficient. In any case, let's get down to business with these fishing tips for the beginner, shall we?

  1. Use The Proper Pound Test - Many beginning (and seasoned) anglers tend to use fishing line that's much too heavy. You need to understand that the "pound test" is the amount of dead weight that said line can hold without breaking. Remember you also have the drag of your reel and the bend of your rod to take pressure off of the line. You need to think of the type (and size) of the fish you intend to catch and match your line to this. For example; if you're fishing for smallmouth bass in the flowing waters of your local river, line heavier than eight pound test is a big problem, and six pound test should probably be employed. Just ask yourself, "In this scenario, what are the chances of hooking into a six pound smallmouth?"
  2. Pay Attention To Unnatural Odors - When I use the term 'unnatural odors', I'm referring specifically to your hands. Any unnatural odors that might be on your hands will transfer to your bait or lure, and if fish detect this, they will tend not to bite. A simple and east tip is to grab a handful of dirt or grass and rub it unto your hands before baiting up. This will effectively "wash" your hands of any unnatural odors.
  3. Use Mother Nature To Your Advantage - As a beginner, this tip will serve you well for the rest of your fishing career. Mother Nature, or more specifically the moon & weather, have an incredible impact on the behavior of fish, and if you understand the basics of this phenomenon it will make you a much more successful angler. The key is to learn the basics so that you are on the water when the fish are the most active. For example, did you know that when the moon is full you should be fishing? There is simply no doubt that using Mother Nature to your advantage will make you a more successful angler.

These simple (yet effective) fishing tips will help you catch more fish; it's as simple as that. Do these tips seem sophomoric? Many times it's the simplest things in life that are the most effective, and fishing is no different. Remember to spend as much time on the water as possible. Nothing makes you more successful than spending time on the water practicing your craft.
