| Trout Fishing Tactics - For the Beginner |
Beginner Fishing
When you're a beginner, trout fishing (in fact all fishing) can be a daunting task. Finding good information can be difficult when you're a beginner, which is one of the reasons I wrote this article. In this article, trout fishing tactics - for the beginner, I'm going to outline some simple things that every angler should do, but most don't do. As a beginner, if you use these trout fishing tactics from the "get go" you'll be much better off. Many (if not all) of these trout fishing tactics were taught to me by my fishing mentor, who was the best and most successful trout angler that I've ever known. As a beginner, you now get the same opportunity that I had many years ago. To learn from a master trout angler. Although you didn't know this man, and he has since moved on to another plane of existence, you can learn from him simply by reading this article. Not a bad deal, by any stretch of the imagination. The first thing to consider as a beginner is your fishing line. All too often beginning anglers use fishing line that's entirely too heavy. Fishing line is sold in various sizes called its "pound test". For trout fishing you want to use a small pound test. For example: six-pound test. As a matter of fact, six-pound test fishing line is what I suggest for the beginning trout angler. You see, trout have very sensitive eyesight and are normally found in cold clear water. They can easily detect fishing line that's too heavy. And if the trout can see your fishing line, you are much less apt to get bites. The next thing to consider is your hooks. Most anglers, and this seems to be particularly prevalent with trout anglers, tend to use hooks that are much too large. Small hooks are a must when fishing for any species of fish. As much as is possible, you want your hooks to be invisible to the fish. This is where gang hooks come into play. Gang hooks are simply a pair of small hooks tied in tandem, which enable baits such as live worms to be presented in a completely natural manner. As a beginner, learning and using gang hooks will pay dividends for your entire fishing life. Gang hooks can be used wherever single hooks are used, the biggest difference being their effectiveness. The last tactic I have for the beginner is to learn how to use the weather and moon to your advantage when fishing. Of all the trout fishing tactics that I've outlined in this article, this might be the most important. Learning the ways that the weather and moon impact fish behavior will help you become a much more successful angler. By learning this simple information, you can make sure that you're on the water when the fish are the most active, which means that you'll get more bites. I know how effective learning this information is and soon you will as well. As a beginner it's also important to remember that there is no substitute for spending time on the water fishing. Practicing these and other fishing tactics will do more to impact your personal fishing success than anything.
